Wreaths Across America at the DFW National Cemetery

Volunteers Needed

 

The 2021 Wreaths Across America Ceremony at the DFW National Cemetery will be held at 10:50 AM on December 18, 2021. We will need 48,500 wreaths to honor all veterans at the DFW National Cemetery. We currently have 23,527 wreath donations (48.5%) for this year’s event. Please place the attached Text to Donate PNG file on your social media. If you are interest in volunteering, please email me the tasks that you will perform and the number of volunteers in your group.

Wreath Donations: We will receive 3 wreaths for every 2 donations at www.HonorDFW.com or texted to 20222.

Text Wreath1 to 20222 to donate a $15 wreath to the DFW National Cemetery.

1. No standard text messaging fees are incurred by mobile users to initiate and complete a text message donation.
2. No portion of any amount donated is held by participating wireless providers. Donations are passed through at 100% back to the beneficiary charity.
3. All mobile users can obtain a tax receipt for their donations made via text message by visiting: http://www.mobilegiving.org/tax-receipt/

Moving Ceremony Wreaths: On December 17th, we need to upload trucks and move the wreath boxes to the various sections of the cemetery. We need volunteers, box trucks, and large trailers for this task.

Traffic Control: We will be responsible for traffic control inside the cemetery. All streets inside the cemetery will be one-way streets. We need 18 volunteers to keep traffic moving in the correct direction.

Cemetery Section Leaders: Section leaders will report to their cemetery sections at 8:00AM. Their duties are as follows: Watch the wreath boxes, instruct volunteers about laying wreaths, handout wreaths, breakdown boxes.

Hospitality Golf Cart Drivers: We need 8 golf cart drivers. Drivers will report to the cemetery at 8:30AM. They will offer transportations from the main gate to the ceremony area. A driver’s license is required.

Box Removal: After the wreath laying is complete, volunteers and volunteer trucks are needed to remove the boxes from the cemetery sections.

Wreath Removal: We are responsible for removing the wreaths. Volunteers and volunteer trucks are needed for this task. Wreath removal will be on January 15, 2022. Last year, we removed 39,000 wreaths in 2 hour and 30 minutes.
